What is the maximum allowable error

Increase maximum file size for WebDAV files

Due to a limitation of the system, you cannot transfer files larger than 47 MB via WebDAV shares without changing the registry

The files that are on WebDAV shares and have a size of more than 47 MB can no longer be transferred or downloaded. The limitation is blocked by the system for security reasons (from SP2 of XP). An error message appears: "Error 0x800700DF: The file size exceeds the maximum allowed and cannot be saved."

The error message can also refer to another program.

However, you can unlock it via the registry.

Open the registry as an administrator.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ WebClient \ Parameters

find the value name FileSizeLimitInBytes, which stands on "50000000" (= 50 MB) (decimal).

50,000,000 bytes is the default.

Click "FileSizeLimitInBytes"right on, go on"To change...", activate the point first Decimal and then increase the value. Just add a zero to the end and click [OK].

You can of course also enter another decimal value,

e.g. 262144000 for 250 MB or 4294967295 for 4 GB (maximum value).

Before - 50 MB

After - 500 MB

Should the value name FileSizeLimitInBytes do not exist, create a new DWORD value (32-bit) with this name.

Windows must be restarted after the registry change.
