How was Dropbox created

Create and share read-only Dropbox links

You can share a link to a file or folder using dropbox.com, your computer, smartphone, or tablet. Recipients of a shared link or shared file with read permissions will not be able to edit the original file in any way.

Dropbox Professional and Business users can change link settings and professionally brand shared links.

Hints:

  • Microsoft Office files, Google Docs, spreadsheets, and presentations are shared with edit access by default. However, when creating the link, you can also change the permission to read access.
  • You cannot create a share link for a restricted folder.
