Which Chromebooks support Microsoft Office

Install and run Microsoft Office on a Chromebook

Use Office for the web in your browser to create, edit, and collaborate on files from your Chromebook. If your Chromebook uses the Chrome Web Store, you can also install the Office mobile apps from the Google Play Store.


  • For information about which Chromebooks support the Office mobile apps from the Google Play Store, see Chrome OS Systems Supporting Android Apps.

  • You can't install the Windows or Mac desktop versions of Microsoft 365 or Office 2016 on a Chromebook.

  • The Android version of OneDrive is not currently supported on a Chromebook.

Install Office apps on a Chromebook:

  1. Open the Google Play Store and find the apps that you want to install.

    Or click one of the links below to download a specific app: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, OneNote, Office Lens, or Microsoft Teams.

  2. click on To install.

  3. When the app (s) are finished installing, click the Launcher on the Chromebook, then click the app to open it.

  4. Sign in with your personal Microsoft account or the account associated with your Microsoft 365 subscription. For details about how to sign in to Office on Android devices, see Install and set up Office on an Android device.

    Note: You can view files and do basic editing in the Office mobile apps when you're signed in to your Microsoft account (it's free, and you can use an existing email address). If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, you can sign in to the app with the account associated with your subscription to take advantage of additional advanced editing features in Microsoft 365.
