Law 17 - Corner Kick

The corner kick is a game continuation.
A corner kick is awarded if the ball completely crosses the goal line in the air or on the ground, but no goal is scored in accordance with rule 10 and the ball was last touched by a player from the defending team.
A goal can be scored directly from a corner kick, but only in favor of the executing team.

  • The ball is placed in the quarter circle closest to where the ball crossed the goal line.
  • The corner flag must not be moved.
  • The opponents are at least 9.15m away from the quarter circle until the ball is in play.
  • The corner kick is taken by a player on the attacking team.
  • The ball is in play when it has been touched with the foot and is moving.
  • The kicker may only play the ball again after it has been touched by another player.

Offenses / sanctions

The corner kick is taken by a field player:
If the ball is in play and the kicker plays it again (except with the hand) before another player touches it,

  • an indirect free kick is awarded to the opposing team at the point where the offense occurred (see Rule 13 - Location of the Free Kick).

If the ball is in play and is deliberately played with the hand by the kicker before it is touched by another player,

  • a direct free kick is awarded to the opposing team at the point where the offense occurred (see Rule 13 - Location of the Free Kick).
  • If the offense occurs in the penalty area of ​​the executing player, a penalty will be awarded.

The goalkeeper takes the corner kick:
If the ball is in play and the goalkeeper touches it again (except with the hand) in front of another player,

  • an indirect free kick is awarded to the opposing team at the point where the offense occurred (see Rule 13 - Location of the Free Kick).

If the ball is in play and is deliberately played with the hand by the goalkeeper before it is touched by another player, will

  • A direct free kick is awarded to the opposing team at the point where the offense occurred if it was outside that goalkeeper's penalty area (see Rule 13 - Location of the Free Kick);
  • Awarded an indirect free kick to the opposing team at the point where the offense occurred, if it was inside that goalkeeper's penalty area (see Rule 13 - Location of the Free Kick).

Any other violation of this rule

  • the corner kick is repeated
