Summary

Around 1,300 children and adolescents between the ages of 18 and 18 wrote an essay on the topic “How do I imagine my personal future and my future life? My wishes, hopes, my worries and fears ”. In each school class that we surveyed, the interviewers asked four students, two girls and two boys, to deal with this topic. Our interest was to find children and young people who would like to write an essay. If no volunteers were found, the questionnaire parts with the essay topic were mixed up with the other questionnaires and distributed at random. The chosen forms and the scope of the essays vary between a three-line list of wishes for later life and a five-page discussion of one's own thoughts and an assessment of the current life story. Many of the essay writers deal with both the personal and the social future.
