What do short-term courses include
Online courses: 8 advantages at a glance
Flexible training from home
Further training impossible because of all the corona requirements? Not quite! Because even if educational and further training institutions are temporarily closed: there is still plenty of access to further training opportunities. The digital world keeps doors open where others are currently closed. Even if face-to-face seminars are now a thing of the past, online courses are accessible anytime and anywhere. But not only that: Compared to face-to-face courses, they also have a number of advantages. We have worked out a few of them for you.
1. Spatial independence
Compared to face-to-face courses or in-house training courses, online seminars offer the advantage that you can learn from anywhere in the world. The only requirement is internet access and a computer, tablet or smartphone. This is ideal in times when we have to stay at home to a large extent due to the corona infection. With online courses, you can study from the comfort of your couch or balcony at home.
2. Flexibility in terms of time
No fixed course times: With online courses, you don't have to appear in the virtual classroom at a specific time. They are based on your time management. You can decide for yourself every day whether and when to study. If you are very busy during the day, you can attend the online course in the evening hours. If you work in shifts, you can adapt your seminar times to your shift schedule. You are absolutely flexible in terms of time - and you also save time traveling to a seminar location.
3. Lower course costs
Compared to face-to-face seminars, the course costs are often lower for online courses. The course costs for face-to-face seminars also include the costs for the seminar room and meals. This does not apply to online seminars. You also save travel costs and expenses.
Does the course really take place? You don't have to ask yourself this question in an online training course. Because here you are not dependent on a minimum number of participants from which a seminar can take place in the first place. Online seminars offer you absolute reliability, with the exception of live webinars, where you are guided through a seminar in real time by a lecturer.
5. Learn at your own pace
One of the main advantages of taking online courses is that you determine how much you learn and how fast you progress. If your everyday life does not allow it, you can break down the teaching units into very small pieces. You can stop studying at any time if your concentration does not allow it. And when you are really in the flow, you can simply add a learning unit to the end.
6. Increased motivation
The high degree of flexibility usually increases the motivation to learn. Because you are not forced to tackle unit X right now. You can also simply choose unit Y if you feel like it more.
How was that again? What did the lecturer say about this in the seminar? If you have not recorded a face-to-face seminar or if you have written down everything that has been said, one or the other important point can be forgotten over time. Online courses make it easier for you: because the learning units can be repeated. You can revisit the content as often as you want and keep looking up something you may have forgotten.
8. Access to additional learning materials
In the case of face-to-face seminars, you usually receive a large bundle of learning materials - sometimes even in digital form. But that’s usually the end of it. Online courses also give you access to tutorials, additional files, videos or further literature. With just a few clicks you can get a comprehensive overview - quickly and easily.
So why not take advantage of the opportunity that presents itself ?! Online courses are a good way to stay on the ball even in times of quarantine, curfew or home office and to do something for your professional or personal development.
