After I wrote about the Amazon affiliate program and its advertising material in a previous article, I will deal with the Amazon aStore in this post.

The aStore can also be viewed as an advertising medium, but forms a separate area in the partner program backend.

The Amazon aStore is to be understood as a small online shop of its own that can be filled with Amazon products and the sales generated through it also bring the publisher commissions.

Creating an aStore

Via the button Create aStore you come to the design area of ​​the aStore. But first you have to select or create a tracking ID for the store, because with it you can control whether you are actually generating sales with the aStore and, if so, which products sell best.

In any case, it is important for an aStore to create sensible product categories. You can create this by clicking on Create product category (Example in fashion: women's blazer).

In the new field on the right side of the aStore creation tool, give the category a name and then click Add your own products.

You will get to a new view where you can select the relevant Amazon product category in the search field B. Clothing, and finally the keyword field Women's blazer enter and click Go click.

You will then be shown a selection of women's blazers. over Add you can add certain models to the aStore's women's blazers product category.

You can integrate up to 540 products into each aStore category. During creation, you will see a small preview image in the left area, where you can see how many products you have included in the category. If you click on a small preview image, another field opens and you have the option of entering a user-defined text with a maximum of 1024 characters for the product.

When you are finished with a category, simply click on back to the product categories and create additional categories.

Using the arrows above the categories, you can move them up or down in the navigation, indent them and thus make sub-categories of a main category or remove them entirely.

You can write a small text for each category, which will then be displayed in the later aStore above the category.

Finally, you should consider including an imprint in your aStore. Especially if you do not integrate the shop into a website via iFrame, you should integrate an imprint.

You can tick the corresponding field and then enter a text in the input field.

The imprint should read something like this:

After the content has been created, the layout of the aStore follows.

Color adjustment of the Amazon aStore

In this step, you should adapt the store - especially if you are integrating it into a website - to match the color layout of your website.

Essential settings concern the background color, the header, the background color of the content, the main text and the link color. You can see all changes in the preview on the right.

In this area you can also give the shop a name and upload a logo. The image should be on a server, the path of the image is then inserted into the field.

In the third step, you decide on a sidebar template that Amazon offers. A column is then displayed either to the right or left of the shop where the individual product categories are displayed, and it is possible to include further information such as favorite lists, accessories or similar items.

These changes or settings are also displayed in a preview image.

If the aStore is too wide for your website, you should try to either switch off space-consuming elements such as the WordPress sidebar in your theme or in the Amazon backend under Shared templates in the area Edit colors and design look for a narrower template.

Integrate aStore shop

In the last step, your shop has been created and you can decide how you want to display it.

The following options are available:

  • Simple link: The shop opens in a new window.
  • Integrate the shop via an iFrame: You will receive a special code with which you can integrate your aStore into a page on your website. This option is probably the best, because it allows the website visitor to find your shop on your website and does not leave it when clicking through the shop products, because the aStore is an integral part of your website.
  • Integrate the shop via a frameset: I find this option outdated and not particularly recommendable.


Bottom line of an aStore with Amazon

Also remember to update your aStore regularly, i. H. add new products on Amazon that are interesting for your shop. Amazon automatically removes products that are out of stock from your aStore.

You can find it in the backend of Amazon under aStore the button in your aStore listing aStore product check. If there is an info icon behind the product check button, products have been removed.

If you want to include the removed products in your shop again, perhaps because they are available again, you can click on them in the product check view and restore them.

By the way, you can create up to 100 different aStores in an Amazon partner account.

aStore from Amazon - Successful advertising material for publishers?

If you want to use the aStore from Amazon, it is best to integrate it into a website and highlight it with a link in the navigation (for example fashion shop) and perhaps also link it in some articles to the shop's product categories.

Still, you shouldn't expect any sales miracles. Firstly because you cannot optimize the aStore with regard to search engines. And if the shop is not advertised through links and notices on the website, it buzzes around the web unnoticed.

Anyone who has a well-visited blog or a well-frequented website can probably generate sales with the aStore, but the simple form of advertising, text link plus product image in a blog post, combined with a self-written recommendation text or a review (if you have a Wants to present and advertise a book from Amazon) more effectively and does not take as much work.

In general, I see an attractive extension of the advertising options for Amazon products in the aStore, I would not use it alone as an advertising medium, I would rather do without it.

After all, potential customers want to be guided to the product and find an incentive to buy. And that is mainly achieved with product-related articles in which you can then include an advertising link.
