Why does India not have its own antivirus program
4 things learned after the Snapchat issue in India
Social media has gone viral lately, a statement by a former Snapchat CEO that said India was a "poor country". In the real scenario, India is far better than other developed countries and still claims to be one of the developing countries in the world. The reason India is the developing country is for various reasons. A major disadvantage of India, which does not make the country one of the developed nations, is the population. The people of India are not middle class, neither rich nor poor. India has every extreme. The richest billionaires live in India, and there are also people who are starving for basic comforts like food and shelter. Few things need to be learned from Indians before moving. After the Snapchat problem in India, the following things were learned.
1. Indians are patriotic
When the allegation spread on social media, most Indians believed the news and started defaming Snapchat. Indians feel that their country is not poor and more patriotic when a foreigner says something against the country. India is often known for "unity in diversity".
Unlike other countries, India is a place where people speak different languages and follow a different religion and yet have proven that they can stay united. When a country with traditions and sentiments represents sensitive capital and receives such an explanation, people become more patriotic than usual.
Indians trust the media. When the media came up with news that was directed against a country with traditions, cultures and sentiments, the people of India blindly believed the media and spread the news about the testimony of the Snapchat CEO.
Snapchat CEO didn't make the statement, but an ex-employee claimed to have talked about the Snapchat CEO. The CEO may or may not make such a statement. Everyone on social media had no potential to think and act. We believe media, but we still know that media is corrupt. We need to understand and analyze the reliability of the message received.
After the allegations were made, when media questioned Snap Inc. on the matter, Snapchat CEO alleged that he had never called India a "poor country". He also added that Snapchat is free and available worldwide.
Some Indians have been mistaken for Snapchat and Snapshot. Snapdeal is an Indian company, but since people got confused about the problem, most started defaming the app on the App Store and Play Store. Also, you might be wondering that Snapseed, a photo editing app from Google that is in no way related to Snap Inc., also got 1-star ratings for being mistaken for Snapchat. Snapseed wasn't as badly affected as Snapdeal, however, as Snapseed wasn't very popular as a Snapdeal. Snapchat on Apple's App Store earned a star after many Indians gave the app a star. Snapdeal has reportedly lowered its ratings as a result of this issue.
4. We have forgotten about other problems
We have serious problems in the country that have to worry about when the Snapchat CEO claims India is a poor country. How many know that the farmers in New Delhi, India are protesting to find a solution to a cause? There are also many people without food, shelter or clothing. India has the richest and also the poorest. A CEO from a foreign country couldn't publicly say that India is poor, but we have different problems. We are unique than anyone else.
Also note the other messages, anonymous Indian hackers reported having 1.7 billion user data that was lost during a breach two years ago. However, Snap Inc. claims the company had no breach two years ago and is making sure that user data is safe.
