Slow down pianists as they age

Beauty interview: In the bathroom with pianist Cora Irsen

.

It's already the middle of the month - so it's high time for the monthly beauty interview.

Today is going to be a bit classic.
I have a concert pianist as a guest. Cora Irsen I got to know at a photo shoot for Cora's press photos and I was fascinated by the play of this energetic woman. At that time it was Franz Liszt. Today she has dedicated herself to an equally great woman:Marie Jaëll was a friend of Liszt’s and had a furious career together with her husband. So if you are interested in fascinating women, you have come to the right place today. Because Cora recently did that entire work of Marie Jaëll’s recorded on 4 CD’s and a biography Written about this passionate woman who went her own way as early as 1860.

.

.

Her second great passion belongs to everything that has to do with beauty in a distant way, which is why Cora is absolutely right here today:

Would you please introduce yourself briefly? What should / may the readers find out about you?

Since I was 4 years old I have been pursuing my passion, playing the piano and living as a freelance pianist. Cosmetics already fascinated me as a small child. The biggest present for me when I was 9 years old was a make-up doll ... I think that says it all!

.

Do you reveal your age?

I'm 42 :)

.

What is your attitude towards beauty? Are you more of a beauty junkie or do you keep it more pragmatic in the bathroom?

I love cosmetics, I love to cleanse, moisturize and apply lotion to my skin. At least every other day I use a face mask in the morning, sometimes a collagen mask (The Organic Pharmacy) and the next time a delicious moisturizing mask (Nuori), which feels so incredibly soft and creamy that the skin becomes velvety with joy. I used to have a complete line of products, but today I love getting to know different products and experimenting with them more and more. So there are a lot of jars, pots and boxes around in my bathroom ... to the annoyance of my husband (who says: "Women are like the Sahara desert ...")
When I want to relax, I go to a perfumery ......

.

How do you define the term beauty for yourself? What do you think is beautiful?

I cannot give a definition for myself. I see a person and I just find them beautiful. Sometimes it is the outside and then again the inner radiance. Good-naturedness also gives beauty. I also think that there is something beautiful to see in everyone.

.

.

Describe the skin care that's perfect for you?

The perfect skin care would be a cream that immediately smooths all wrinkles (which I have not yet found and which probably does not exist - at least not without terribly unhealthy additives). I'm always trying to find more care products that use natural ingredients. I am not able to do this with all products, as the power of nature naturally has its limits. The scent is not decisive for me, but of course I enjoy a delicate scent that immediately touches my senses.

.

Topic make-up: Which utensils should not be missing in your daily make-up routine?

My daily routine is sacred to me and a kind of meditation for me. In the morning I wash my face with Dr.Hauschka Cleansing Milk and enjoy this delicate rose scent every time. Then, as I said, I like to put on a mask. During yoga, she doesn't bother at all and can move in just fine. Then, if I didn't have a mask on, I use a serum such as Reviderm or the golden face oil from Caudalie. As soon as winter is over, I use a face cream with a sun protection factor (Paula's Choice Redness Relief, as I unfortunately suffer from couperose from time to time). On top of that I treat myself to the Lifting Serum from "The Organic Pharmacy" (unfortunately very expensive), but I find its effect really amazing.
When I don't leave the house, I like to do without make-up and mascara to protect my skin. Otherwise, I won't go out of the house without mascara and lipstick. At the moment I love the lightness of “Lancome - Teint Miracle” and the long adhesion of the “Armani” lipsticks. As a care product for my lips, I am currently enjoying Korres' lip butter.
A couple of times a week I turn my bathroom into a cozy and relaxing SPA in the evening. Then I clean my face intensively with the Cleansing Balm from EVE LOM (leaves a very clean feeling) or use the “Daily Microfoliant” from Dermalogica. Sometimes I also use the little pink massage jellyfish Foreo Luna 2.

.

.

Will you tell us an anecdote from your youth? When and how did you come into contact with make-up?

I secretly put on make-up very early on and went to my mother's eyeshadow jars when I was 8 years old. When I was about 12 I secretly used mascara at school and when my friend asked if my eyelashes were made up, I lied mercilessly ... She discovered the many hairs on my head that were accidentally made up. That probably gave me away ...

.

How has your attitude towards skin care and make-up changed over the years?

I've always gone through different phases. At around 30, for example, I had the tendency to only use a healthy cream made from pure natural substances in the morning and not let any product on my skin in the evening. That was the philosophy of this company. I bravely endured a whole year (a real nightmare for a beauty junkie).
How it looks today, I have described in detail above :-).

.

Topic anti aging: How do you deal with the fact that your skin changes with increasing age?

The skin change is not easy for me - I openly admit it. Why do our pores have to get bigger and bigger? But I cream and clean and care and massage as much as I can to slow down the visible aging process.

.

.

How do you feel about cosmetic surgery or surgery?

This topic has been occupying me intensively for about a year. A difficult topic, because one should embrace aging and not fight it. But I also find myself wanting to have a filler injected here and there (where the skin unfortunately hangs down a bit without energy) to plump up these areas. On television you almost only look at processed faces and this naturally increases the desire for a tighter face. When I see myself playing the piano on stage, I am sometimes shocked to see where the skin clings to my chin. Therefore, at the end of March, I have an appointment with dermatologist Dr. Krakor in Leipzig to listen to your suggestions.

.

Do you have an ideal of beauty? Someone who you can say that he inspires you in terms of beauty?

As a teenager, the models Linda Evangelista, Christina Patitz and Christy Turlington inspired me a lot and were my ideal of beauty! You probably all know them from the George Michael video "Freedom". A great video!

.

Do you have a beauty secret that you want to reveal?

I drink almost 4 liters of water a day and I am convinced that this amount of fluid is very good for my skin. Often it is warm water or water with a squirt of lemon juice. Otherwise, of course, I try to eat a lot of fruit and vegetables and eat little sweets ...

.

.

So dear Cora, I have now put together a shopping list that I absolutely have to work through ... I really have to try Nouri and Eve Lom. Thank you for these great insights into your virtual bathroom! 🙂
