Migrate content to the new phone

To migrate content to your new phone, do the following:

  1. Install the free Motorola Migrate app on your old phone. Touch > Play Store (requires a Google account) and search for “Motorola Migrate”.
  2. On the new phone, touch > Motorola Migrate and follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. When prompted to scan a QR code, hold the old phone over the new phone, which has the QR code in a blue square until it shows Connecting Phones ...
  4. The distance between the two phones should not be more than 5 meters during transmission. To check the progress after exiting the Motorola Migrate app, open the notification bar and view the Motorola Migrate notification.
  5. When the transfer is complete, view the migration report on the new phone, then touch Exit on both phones.

If your old phone had contacts saved on the SIM card, do the following:

  1. On the new phone, touch > Contacts.
  2. Touch > Import / Export> Import from storage.
  3. Select an account to be assigned to the contacts.
tipTo permanently remove data from your old phone, do a factory reset.

If you need to upgrade or replace a phone that came pre-installed with Motorola Migrate, follow these steps:

  1. Touch on the phone you want to replace > Settings.
  2. Touch Select mode> Send data FROM this device.
  3. Start Motorola Migrate on your new phone and follow the instructions on the screen.
