Brand New – Social Media Workshops

Brand New – Social Media Workshops

Last month I hosted my first ever workshop called From Blogging To Bossing where I discussed in depth about multiple income streams and how much I make from my hustles.

Next month I’m holding two different workshops. One is How To Grow Your Instagram and the other is a more informal style Q&A where I’m asking you to bring your social media/business related questions to me. I’m hoping I can make this a monthly session where I can answer your burning questions; whether you’re curious on what hashtags to be using on Instagram, what content to be posting on Facebook or whether a new business idea fits in with your brand.

Let’s talk about my first Instagram workshop.

How To Grow Your Instagram Masterclass

I created this workshop because I see many people on my Twitter and Instagram feeds complaining about the algorithm and how they aren’t gaining followers or likes. If you’re one of these people, I recommend clicking the link below and signing up!

What Will The Workshop Teach Me?

You will learn how to gain followers using engagement techniques that I have used for years to grow my own and my client’s Instagram accounts.

I will talk about hashtags and the impact using them has on your posts as well as how to use stories to sell and reach out to others in your niche.

We will also talk about content and how to make your feed reflect your personality and brand. We will cover how often to post to your feed and stories and how much we should engage with our target audience.

This event is a chance to have your questions answered. Are you struggling to come to grips with how to gain followers on Instagram? Or maybe you haven’t made sales in some time and you’re wondering how to improve your online presence. Whether you have questions relating to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube or even LinkedIn, I’m here to help!

From Blogging To Bossing – An Online Workshop

From Blogging To Bossing – An Online Workshop

Hello! In today’s blog I’m going to be discussing my new workshop, From Blogging To Bossing! I’m very excited as it’s my first online workshop and what better way to talk about it than right here on my blog.

Why Did I Create The Workshop?

As you probably know, I’ve been blogging for around five years now. When I first started blogging, I wrote about books, travel and anything in between. I started off blogging for fun because I enjoyed writing and engaging with others. I loved seeing what you guys were up to and receiving recommendations from you.

Around a year or two in I realised I could monetize my blog and make money doing what I loved – writing! I was so excited; I started researching and reading how other bloggers were generating money from their blog, but it was always so vague. Whenever I asked someone how they made money from blogging, they would just say “ads.”

Ads are great for monetizing your blog if you have thousands of views a month, but for someone like me who just enjoyed writing and creating, I wasn’t interested in thousands of views, and I believe I made a total of 91p on Blogger before I switched over to WordPress. Views and followers are not the be all and end all. You can still make money from blogging and social media without going viral. I’ve made over £500 by creating digital products. You don’t have to have hundreds of views a day to make that money.

I created From Blogging To Bossing because I want to answer every bloggers question: how do I make money from my blog?

What Is The Workshop About?

The workshop is going to focus on income streams and how you can create new ones that line up with your brand and skills. I’m going to be talking in depth about my income streams, how I make money online and how much I make.

From Blogging to Bossing

I will also be talking about a number of different ways you can monetize your blog and create services and products that line up with your ethics and skills.

There is also going to be a Q&A at the end of the workshop to ask anything about income streams, about my business and more.

Event Details

Learn how to turn your passion into a business and make money from blogging. In this workshop you will learn how to turn your blog into a business through ads, affiliate marketing, creating products and providing services. Learn about other income streams and work out which one is best for you.

We will discuss other services you can provide on your website and how I made 6 different income streams. You will also be able to ask me questions as we go along and I’ll answer them at the end of the webinar.

This event will be held on Facebook so you must join the group to gain access.

Date: Monday 7th September 6pm BST.

Where: Online Workshop – Facebook

Price: £11.36

Link: From Blogging To Bossing – EventBrite

I’m so excited to see you all there and to teach you about new income streams for your business and blog! As always, thank you for the support.

Life With Ktkinnes

Life With Ktkinnes is a lifestyle blog, which I started back in 2014 when I was trying to figure out what I was doing with my life before starting university. From there, it has evolved to be almost diary-like, in the hopes that by sharing my experiences I might help others realise it’s okay to not know what we’re doing with our lives.  As well as these “DMC” type posts, I share recipes I’ve tried and loved along the way, books I’ve read, films and TV shows you need to watch, oh and Christmas is one of my biggest topics, with Blogmas taking over my content every year in December. In fact, Saturday 1st August I am publishing an ebook and planner to help other bloggers enjoy the fun of Blogmas! Life With Ktkinnes really is life with me, so if you enjoy a good ramble, or a serious conversation from time to time, then trust me when I say there’s a little something for everyone!

How To Get Over The Fear Of Self Promotion

How To Get Over The Fear Of Self Promotion

Have you started your own business? Are you super excited to get your first client or make your first sale? Awesome! Are you scared of promoting your products and having others judge you? Then you’ve come to the right place.

In this post I want to help you get over the fear of self promotion. I want to help you reach your full potential and sell those products, courses, coaching sessions and more!

I’ve had my own business for almost two years now and I can tell you that I have only recently started to become comfortable with pitching my services and getting used to promoting my products and services.

Before we look into how you can overcome the fear of self promotion, you need to ask yourself a few questions.

  • Why am I scared of promoting myself?
  • What’s stopping me? Fear of judgement? Failure?
  • Am I scared my family or friends will judge me?
  • Am I scared to come off fake? Accused of selling too much?

If you’re scared of failure, of judgement, of being called fake and more, then I’m going to show you how to overcome those fears related to self promotion.

Be The Boss

You are essentially doing a job. If you worked for someone and they told you to post this, do that and do the other, you would do it, right? So sometimes you have to be the boss of yourself. You need to take control and set those emotions aside. Pretend you are posting on behalf of someone else; you’re doing what you’ve been asked to do.

Take control. Be the boss you are. Put your foot down.

Be Yourself

If you feel “cringe” about promoting a product, it’s probably because you’ve never done this before. It’s always scary doing something new. As long as you are being your authentic self and promoting in a way that aligns with your core beliefs, you’re doing your best.

How To Get Over The Fear Of Self Promotion

Being yourself could mean making a joke, being transparent, using art to convey your message etc. You don’t have to turn into an entrepreneur overnight and churn out motivational quotes and products. Success is what you make it and you need to be completely transparent. Customers buy into your story, not just your product.

Get Rid Of The Negative

Have you noticed that your friends aren’t cheering you on? Or that aunty Karen hasn’t been convinced by your business model?

Your family and friends don’t have to share every post you promote on Facebook, but they should support your dreams without judgement.

If you feel that you aren’t receiving the support you need, maybe it’s time to stop talking about your business to people who clearly don’t understand – or don’t want to understand.

I have so many friends and family members who never ask how my business is going or what I’m up to, so I decided to create my own network of people who support me. I now have a large Twitter and Instagram community that roots for me when no one in real life is.

If your fear of self promotion is coming from a deep rooted problem, maybe it’s time to explore what or who is making you feel that way.

Stay In Your Lane

Ultimately, you need to stay in your own lane. You are your own person and you are the only person who knows what’s best for you.

If you feel that impostor syndrome kicking in, you need to remember what this business means to you. After all, this is your way of putting food on the table. This is your livelihood – no one else’s.

How To Get Over The Fear Of Self Promotion

Of course, judgement may come and go but it’s your job not to be wavered by it. Stand tall like a tree with your roots deeply in the ground. Believe in your business and others will too. If you don’t believe in yourself, how do you expect others to?

If you’re looking to break away from the 9-5 lifestyle and start your own business, you may find my latest ebook helpful!

How To Ditch The 9-5 And Become Your Own Boss

You will learn how to hustle alongside your 9-5 if you can’t financially leave at this moment, the pros and cons of becoming your own boss, how to find paid freelance gigs, what side hustles you could be doing and more!

This 10 page ebook will give you a beginner’s insight into how to become a freelancer/self employed and ditch the 9-5 life.

Don’t let your negative thinking stop you from achieving your dreams!

An Interview With A Digital Nomad And Vanlifer

An Interview With A Digital Nomad And Vanlifer

I came up with the idea recently to interview digital nomads and creatives who are now living a life they love. I want to inspire others to live the life you want. It is possible.

I decided to reach out to vanlifer and digital nomad, Nikki Bigger. I’ve followed her and her partner Ben for a while now and I’ve been inspired by them and their journey. I wanted to ask Nikki some of the struggles of being a digital nomad, the highs and lows and everything in between. Let’s dive in!

Tell us a bit about yourself!

I’m Nikki, 29 years old from Kingston, Ontario. I live full-time in my self-converted Ford Transit van with my partner Ben. We are both Commercial Photographers, we love to hike, adventure and explore new locations. We will soon have a cute pup come the end of June and we cannot wait!
An interview with a digital nomad and vanlifer

What’s the best part about van life and what’s the worst?

The best part is the freedom and the low amount of bills. I never felt free growing up, society & people always told me what I should do, but since the vanlife, I finally know that this is the perfect path for me and the freedom is amazing! The worst part (although there aren’t many), would be always having to top up water, empty water along with the toilet stuff as well. It’s definitely my least favorite part about vanlife, but it’s worth doing to live in the van!

What would your advice be for someone wanting to become a digital nomad?

I would say do it! There is no time like the present and this moment may not ever come again. Research your heart out on how to make income on the road, build that van you’ve always been dreaming of, because regret is a horrible feeling, don’t look back on your life and wish you would have done these things.
nikki bigger

What’s your favourite place that you’ve visited or stayed?

Queenstown New Zealand. It’s an amazing location and it’s where I lived in a van for the first time! I loved this spot so much and I keep dreaming about it!

How long have you been living the van life?

Total 3 years. 2 years in New Zealand and 1 year in Canada.
An interview with a digital nomad and vanlifer

Is van life something you’d love to do forever?

1000% or tiny house life! I cannot wait to build a tiny house or a cabin! But I will always have a van because I love adventures.

Is it hard to make money while on the road?

It could be hard if you don’t have a remote job, but there are so many ways to make money on the road. Whether it be teaching English, social media management and loads more! If you want something, work as hard as you can to get it!

What made you decide to live the digital nomad life?

I felt trapped in society and couldn’t stand the typical way of life. I knew there was something better out there and had the courage to go find it!
An interview with a digital nomad and vanlifer

What’s one thing you wish you’d known before starting this journey?

Don’t buy an old van. Invest in a newer van. I bought a 30 year old van in NZ for $5000, ended up putting $7000 into it because it kept breaking down. The stress and hassle is not worth it.

How To Up Your Social Media Game During Lockdown

How To Up Your Social Media Game During Lockdown

You’re probably here because you’re stuck in lockdown, bored out of your mind and you’ve decided to take your social media channels to the next level. Well you came to the right place! Sit back, relax and dive in to some top social media tips to up your social media game during lockdown.

Target Your Audience

Do you know who your target audience is? If not, it’s time to do some research. What are you selling? Who is your ideal client/follower? Is there someone you look up to on social media? What are they doing to engage with followers and who do they follow?

These are all questions to ask yourself when identifying who you want to follow and who your ideal client is. Once you know this, it’s time to interact.

Make Connections

Most people don’t understand that spending as little as 15 minutes on Instagram interacting with fellow bloggers/businesses can up your profile views and engagement. Make sure you’re spending at least 5 minutes commenting and liking your follower’s posts and a further 10, if not more, minutes on finding new people to follow and interact with.

Using Graphics To Your Advantage

Make sure you’re upping your graphics/photo game, especially if you’re predominately on Instagram. I use Canva to create all my Instagram content and I highly recommend it. However, if you’re more tech savvy, you could use Photoshop, especially if you’re a photographer or illustrator. These are some of the graphics I’ve been creating using Canva for clients.

Collaborating

Collaborating with bloggers and influencers is a great way of gaining followers. If you write a blog post for a friend’s website for instance, you should get more traffic coming in to your website and social media channels. Just remember to always include your social handles when being asked to guest post so you can be linked back to.

Having connections in the blogging world is a lifesaver at times. My Twitter community have my back and are always helping promote me and my services. I’d be lost without those connections!

Use The Shit Out Of Hashtags

Hashtags hashtags hashtags. And repeat. Hashtags are so important to reach more people on Instagram and Twitter. Although on Facebook it’s been proven that adding hashtags to posts makes you less visible.

Make sure you’re always using 10-30 hashtags on posts (Instagram’s hashtag limit per post is 30) and have a varied selection of hashtags with 50k posts attributed with it and some with a couple million. This way you’ll reach lots of different audiences without getting lost in the stampede.

If you’re looking for a more detailed guide on using hashtags, specifically for Instagram, you can get my guide here.
